SLTEC Fertilizers, a liquid Fertilizer manufacturer, is seeking a motivated part-time financial accountant to work as part of a close-knit team in Tongala, Victoria.
About the role
Reporting to the Managing Director and CFO, the Accountant will coordinate day to day finance arrangements of SLTEC Fertilizers to support business operations whilst ensuring and driving accurate and appropriate internal controls and compliance whilst delivering month end and statutory requirements.
The role will be initially up to 30 hours per week, the timing of which can be flexible, but ideally would suit a candidate who can split these hours over 4-5 days per week.
Your roles and responsibilities will include but not be restricted to the following:
Month end accounting including preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
Preparation and lodgement of the monthly BAS
Providing informative analysis of monthly results including examining income, expenditure and operating costs & reporting to management on variances to budget
Cash flow planning and management
Preparing journals to ensure accurate recording of profit & loss and balance sheet events
Maintaining fixed asset system (AM) with additions, disposals and depreciation rates
Provide support, training and oversight to the office team in relation to financial matters including payroll
Contributing to preparation of company budgets and forecasts

Skills and experience
The following will be viewed favourably:
Degree in Accounting or related discipline
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of financial accounting and compliance obligations
Experience and understanding of cash-flow management including trade finance, foreign exchange and invoice financing
Exposure to Human resource management
High degree of computer literacy including thorough knowledge of Excel, MYOB and Xero
Ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in writing with a professional presence
Ability to be both adaptable to and be an influencer of change and improvement in a constantly growing and evolving business.
